Controller

Maria Scott is a Controller on the Fund Management and Finance team, where she oversees fund accounting, investor reporting, valuations, and tax compliance.

Prior to joining Revolution, Maria was a Senior Accountant at The Carlyle Group, where she managed financial reporting and investor relations for the Europe Buyout, Europe Technology, and Middle East and North Africa funds. Earlier in her career, she was a paralegal at the Bose Law Firm, supporting attorneys in trial preparation and legal proceedings.

Maria earned a B.S. in Finance from George Mason University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Originally from Quito, Ecuador, she brings a global perspective and deep technical expertise to her role.

  1. Something you admire about entrepreneurs: Their resiliency and flexibility. Starting a business is no easy feat—entrepreneurs are constantly tested by unexpected curveballs, both big and small. Not everyone makes it through, but the ones who do? Absolutely inspiring.‍
  2. What was your first job? Running my family’s ice cream shop in high school! We had three employees, and it gave me an early crash course in the ups and downs of entrepreneurial life (plus, unlimited ice cream—can’t beat that).‍
  3. An idea you wish you had come up with? Anything that blends automation with improving daily life. I recently read about robots designed to help elderly people with balance and strength, and I thought—now that’s the kind of idea I wish I had come up with. Making life easier and better for people never goes out of style.‍
  4. Road trip destination on your bucket list? Japan, Thailand, and Australia are my dream stops. But honestly, I’ve learned that even the so-called “underwhelming” places usually have hidden gems if you explore with the right mindset. So really, my bucket list is: everywhere.
  5. Offline, you’ll find me… Trying (and usually failing) to tire out my two energetic boys, sweating it out at CorePower yoga sculpt, curled up with a book, or cooking something that hopefully makes the whole house smell amazing.
