Rewilding Luxury Travel in Costa Rica

Place
Punta Cacique is a peninsula situated along the northwest coast of Costa Rica, one of Central America’s premier luxury corridors known for its biodiversity and welcoming atmosphere. The destination is just 25 minutes from the Guanacaste Airport (LIR), delivering rare convenience without compromising tranquility. Flanked by two beach towns and within one of the world’s five Blue Zones (regions known for exceptional longevity and well-being), the community offers easy access to local culture, cuisine, and experiences — making it a uniquely enriching place to live, visit, and experience Costa Rica.
Space
The 600+ acre master-planned community is anchored by Costa Rica’s first Waldorf Astoria, with branded residences, a full-service spa, fitness center, and beach club. Future development plans include additional residences, luxury resort hotels, a cliffside pool club, and a commercial village with boutique retail and dining. The development is intentionally open and integrated with — not isolated from —the surrounding communities, reflecting the local landscape and culture, and encouraging connection with the broader region.
Case for investment
Revolution Places acquired the land in 2005, spending nearly two decades choosing the right development and hospitality partners. Punta Cacique’s careful planning reflects a long-term belief that the most enduring destinations are those that create both economic vitality and cultural connection — just as Hawaii did a generation ago. Today, the destination’s development aligns with several macro movements: the rise of wellness-focused travel, demand for branded residences, and a shift toward luxury destinations that offer both permanence and flexibility.
Milestones
- 2005: Revolution Places purchases Punta Cacique land
- 2012: Begins hospitality partner exploration
- 2017: Selects Waldorf Astoria as the first hospitality partner
- 2022: Begins construction on the Waldorf Astoria
- 2024: Appoints former Las Catalinas COO, Neal Herman, as President
- 2025: Opens Waldorf Astoria; Exclusive Resorts announces its first branded residential project will be developed on the peninsula
