The end of 2024 and beginning of 2025 brought sunsets, snow, and spirited conversations. As always, our team covered plenty of ground — connecting with founders, investors, and ecosystem builders, with a few great meals and scenic stops along the way. From college towns to cliff-lined coasts, here’s where we went and what we learned along the way. See you on the road this spring.

Where we went: Ann Arbor, MI📍

What we did: Tige Savage and Carl Leacock headed to the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business for EVCCon 2024, a gathering of early-stage investors and entrepreneurs exploring the future of venture capital. Between panels, pitches, and catching up with co-investors, the event showcased a new generation of founders and funders building in the Midwest.

Where to go: Fuel up at Vertex Coffee Roasters with a custom flight (you read that right) of assorted coffee and espresso beverages, get inspired at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, one of the largest university art museums in the country, take a nature break at Nichols Arboretum, and — if you’re in town for a game — catch the Wolverines at home in the Big House.

Where we went: Las Vegas, NV📍

What we did: David Hall touched down in Vegas for AWS re:Invent, one of the biggest cloud computing conferences of the year. It was a chance to connect with investors, founders, and industry leaders working on what’s next in AI, data infrastructure, and the future of the internet.

Where to go: Head to the desert to check out the colorful peaks of Seven Magic Mountains, relive the ’80s at the Pinball Hall of Fame, and grab tacos at Tacos El Gordo, because no trip to Vegas is complete without late-night street food.

Where we went: Half Moon Bay, CA📍

What we did: Mahati Sridhar attended the All Raise VC Summit, where she joined a community of women investors focused on making venture capital more inclusive. The conversations were candid, the energy was palpable, and the setting a fitting backdrop for big ideas.

Where to go: Take in the ocean views at Bunker Point, where old bunkers double as canvases for graffiti artists, grab a pastry and coffee from Moonside Bakery & Cafe, and check out the surf and surfers at Mavericks Beach (where, If you’re lucky, you might spot gray whales migrating just offshore).

Where we went: Newark, NJ📍

What we did: Amira Ouji sat down with nine startups during Audible’s office hours as part of their Business Attraction Program, diving into Newark’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem and hearing directly from founders building across industries.

Where to go: Start your day with a pastéis de nata from Teixeira’s Bakery (just a short walk from Newark Penn Station), visit the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart to see its stunning stained glass, and don’t leave without a stop in the Ironbound neighborhood for Portuguese, Spanish, or Brazilian food — and a scoop (or three) from Nasto’s Old World Desserts.

Where we went: Ojai, CA📍

What we did: Tige Savage went west for Struck Capital’s AGM, where he spoke with fellow panelists about venture studios and the productization of innovation. The conversation touched on how structured venture-building models are changing the way startups get off the ground, and how more investors are looking at these studio-led approaches.

Where to go: Lose track of time at Bart’s Books, the world’s largest outdoor bookstore, recharge at Meditation Mount — a hilltop sanctuary with incredible valley views, and end the day sipping local wines at Topa Mountain Winery.

Where we went: Raleigh, NC📍

What we did: Mahati Sridhar made the rounds in Raleigh with back-to-back stops at CED’s Venture Connect and UNC’s Alternative Investments Conference hosted by the Institute for Private Capital. It was a full week of pitch sessions, market insights, and conversations between founders and investors from North Carolina and beyond. Read why Mahati is bullish on the growing startup ecosystem and her hometown.

Where to go: Stroll through the North Carolina Museum of Art’s park and galleries, grab Laotian comfort food and a cocktail at Bida Manda, and satisfy your sweet tooth with a behind-the-scenes tour and tasting at Videri Chocolate Factory.

Where we went: Northeast D.C.📍

What we did: Steve Case testified before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, advocating for policy ideas aimed at expanding capital access for more entrepreneurs in more places. Revolution also teamed up with Station DC to host two community gatherings — a Cup of Capital meetup at La Cosecha and a Women in Tech evening at Cotton & Reed.

Where to go: Browse the stalls at Eastern Market for farm-fresh produce and vintage finds, grab a hazy IPA at Other Half Brewing, and explore the National Arboretum — home to the Capitol’s original columns and one of the country’s biggest bonsai collections.

Where we went: New York, New York📍

What we did: David Hall attended Morgan Stanley’s Inclusive Ventures Lab Global Showcase & Demo Day, where founders from across industries — healthcare, supply chain, cybersecurity, and more — presented after five months of building within the corporation’s in-house accelerator.

Where to go: Find modern gifts at the MoMA Design Store, boutique shop on the Lower East, and take a breather (and some prime people-watching) in Bryant Park. For skyline views and standout small plates, book a table at José Andrés’s Nubeluz in NoMad.
